The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has issued a directive to clear unauthorized hoardings, cables, stalls, and other encroachments from the Pune-Satara section of National Highway 48. The deadline for compliance is June 30, 2024, after which strict action will be taken against violators.
Notice of Removal
The notice specifically targets the stretch between Khed Shivapur toll naka and Dehu Road. The NHAI has warned that non-compliance will result in actions under the Disaster Management Act 2005, emphasizing the urgency and seriousness of the situation.
Responsibilities and Consequences
The district and local administrations, as well as private citizens, are expected to remove their unauthorized structures at their own expense. Failure to do so will prompt the NHAI to evict the encroachments under the Control of National Highways (Land and Traffic) Act 2002. The costs incurred during the removal process, along with any penalties, will be recovered from those responsible for the encroachments.
Enforcement and Accountability
The NHAI has made it clear that it will not bear any responsibility for losses or inconveniences caused during the removal process post-deadline. This stern warning is aimed at ensuring that the highway remains free of obstructions, ensuring smoother traffic flow and enhanced safety for commuters.
