Pune News | Two auto-rickshaw drivers returned the bags containing jewellery worth lakhs of rupees to the original owners

Pune: Two auto-rickshaw drivers at Dehu Road in Maval have returned the bags containing gold and silver ornaments worth lakhs of rupees to the original owners. Both the drivers were honoured by the Dehu Road police for their honesty.

The auto-rickshaw drivers Ganesh Phurde and Suraj Tambe found a white bag inside the auto at Mukai Chowk in Dehu Road. After checking the bag they found 7 tolas of gold and some silver ornaments in the bag. Both reached the Dehu Road police station with a bag containing heavy jewellery and handed it over to the Dehu road police saying that they found it in their auto-rickshaw. When the police checked the bag they found the goldsmith’s receipt and accordingly the police contacted the number given on the receipt. After the call it was found that the bag of jewellery belonged to Archana Barne.

The Dehu Road police contacted Barne and called her to the police station and returned a bag of Jewellery with 7 tolas of gold and silver ornaments. Barne family thanked the Dehu Road police officials along with auto-rickshaw drivers Ganesh Phurde and Suraj Tambe.

The Barne family and the police honoured the auto-rickshaw drivers saying that in today’s age honesty and humanity are rarely seen.
