Pune-Nashik High-Speed Rail Project Gains Momentum: Deputy CM Fadnavis Charts Progress with Railway Minister

Pune/Nashik, 24th February 2024: Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister, Devendra Fadnavis, took significant strides towards the realization of the Pune-Nashik High-Speed Rail Project during a meeting with Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav in Mumbai on Friday (23rd). The collaborative discussions have set the stage for accelerating the development of this vital railway project.

The Pune-Nashik high-speed rail initiative aims to address the longstanding demand of citizens in both Pune and Nashik while catalyzing the overall growth and development of these two cities. A noteworthy allocation of Rs 2500 crore has been sanctioned for the Pune-Nashik railway line, marking a crucial advancement in the project. The Indian Railway Administration has initiated the pivotal process of land acquisition for the 235-kilometre railway line that will connect Pune and Nashik. This route is designated for semi-high-speed trains, with the Maharashtra Rail Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (MAHARAIL) taking the lead in construction efforts. The initial phase of land acquisition has commenced, starting from Sinnar taluka in Nashik.

Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis engaged in discussions with Minister of Railways Ashwini Vaishnav, addressing potential obstacles and aiming to expedite the actual construction work for the Pune-Nashik railway line. The meeting focused on streamlining the project’s progress and ensuring its timely execution.

In addition to this pivotal meeting, Deputy Chief Minister Fadnavis also held discussions with former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, who was in Mumbai for the Ashwamegh Yagya event.
