Dramatic Rescue: Chikhali Police Save Abducted 13-Year-Old in Himachal Pradesh

Pimpri Chinchwad, 24th February 2024: In a remarkable display of efficiency and determination, the Chikhali police conducted a successful rescue operation in Himachal Pradesh, saving a 13-year-old girl who had been abducted from Chikhali. The operation unfolded in the hilly terrain of Himachal Pradesh, where the victim was found and safely released from the custody of the arrested suspect, Suroj Rejaul Shaikh.

Suroj Shaikh, a 21-year-old resident of Kudalwadi with roots in Murshidabad, West Bengal, was identified and apprehended as the alleged abductor.

The Chikhali police were alerted to the abduction of the 13-year-old girl from the Jadhavwadi area of Chikhali. Understanding the seriousness of the situation, the police initiated a thorough investigation. The examination of CCTV cameras in the Chikhali area revealed footage of the girl accompanying an unidentified young man. Further inquiries led to the identification of the alleged abductor as Suroj Shaikh, who worked at a chicken center in Kudalwadi.

Despite the challenges posed by Suroj’s absence from his native place in Murshidabad and the switched-off mobile phone, the police pursued the investigation diligently. Analysis of Suroj’s contacts revealed communication with Roop Singh Thakur, a Nepali youth. The tracking of Thakur’s mobile phone pinpointed his location in a village between Chandigarh and Shimla, Himachal Pradesh.

Responding swiftly, a team from the Chikhali police was dispatched to the identified location. After a two-day search in the hilly village area, it was revealed that Suroj was employed as a labourer for a contractor in Bhoj Nagar. The police set up a trap and successfully apprehended Suroj. During interrogation, he confessed to luring the girl away. Subsequently, the police safely released the victim from his custody.

The successful operation was led by Chikhali Senior Police Inspector Dnyaneshwar Katkar, Assistant Police Inspector Uddhav Khade, and dedicated police personnel including Amar Kamble, Suraj Sutar, and Kabir Pinjari.
