CHANDAN NAGAR (PUNE): A truck carrying goods rammed into the BRTS wall and turned turtle at Chandan Nagar on the Pune-Nagar road. This created a huge traffic jam on the highway. An oil tanker had turned turtle on the stretch between Yerawada to Wagholi on the Pune-Nagar highway 12 days ago. A similar situation has happened again. A truck carrying goods and proceeding towards Wagholi rammed into the BRTS wall at Chandan Nagar on Sunday at 11 pm. Because of this, there were huge traffic jams at Kharadi octroi post and Shastri Nagar.
The truck was moved away after 15 hours but there was a huge traffic jam on the Pune-Nagar highway. The civic administration instead of not making the BRTS route in the centre of the road, implemented the system where there was space on the road which ensured that traffic jams become a regular affair on the Pune-Nagar road.
From Sunday, the BRTS infrastructure is being dismantled from Shastri Nagar to Viman Nagar. However, there is a need to do away with the BRTS route between Viman Nagar to Kharadi octroi post because every day, there are huge traffic jams on the six km stretch between Yerawada and Kharadi.
