Pune: Muslim community members fast to support demand for Maratha reservation

PUNE: Manoj Jarange-Patil is fasting to demand reservation for Maratha community in Jalna district of Marathwada. Incidents of violence have taken place in Beed, Hingoli and Parbhani districts. Houses of MLA Sandip Kshirsagar in Beed and MLA Prakash Solankhe in Majalgaon have been torched. Against this background, curfew has been imposed in Beed district and Internet services have been suspended. Members of the Muslim community are fasting on Tuesday under the chairmanship of President of The Muslim Foundation and former NCP corporator Gafoor Pathan in Kondhwa area in Pune.

Slogans like ‘Ek Maratha Lakh Maratha, Amchya Hakakch Nahi Konachya Bapach’ were raised.
Gafoor Pathan said, “Manoj Jarange Patil is fasting since six days demanding reservation for Maratha community. However, the state government has not taken any action. Hence, we are fasting today to demand reservation for the Maratha community. The government should take a decision as soon as possible or we will intensify our stir.”
