Pune: Minor Burglar Apprehended with Stolen Valuables Worth Rs 15 Lakhs

Pune, August 2nd, 2023: The Pune police have detained a minor boy in connection with a burglary case, during which 220 grams of gold was recovered from his possession. The incident involved the minor and an accomplice, who confessed to burglarizing a house for amusement.

In a separate case, the Bharti Vidyapeeth Police successfully arrested two individuals who had robbed a rickshaw passenger at knifepoint.

The combined efforts of the police led to the recovery of stolen valuables worth Rs 15 lakhs 43 thousand. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 2), Smartana Patil, provided detailed information during a press conference held today.

DCP Patil stated, “The burglary took place at Nimbalkarwadi Waghjai Mata Apartment on July 23, where thieves stole valuables worth Rs 11 lakhs 28 thousand from the house of Kedar Balkrishna Sawant. The police team from Bharti Vidyapeeth police station conducted an extensive investigation into the crime and thoroughly analyzed CCTV footage from the area. The investigation ultimately led to the involvement of the minor suspect.”

Since the accused did not use a mobile phone, technical traces were unavailable for detection. However, the police received a tip-off that the minor would be meeting his girlfriend at Katraj Lake, which enabled them to apprehend him. During the arrest, the police seized 22 tolas of gold ornaments from the minor boy.

In the case of the rickshaw robbery, the arrested individuals were identified as Sudarshan Shivaji Kamble, aged 22, from Warje Mhada Colony, and Om Suresh Dhebe, aged 18, from Chaitanyanagar Dhankawadi. The victim was traveling in a rickshaw to Ambegaon when the two culprits robbed him at knifepoint. The timely and efficient efforts of officials Avadhoot Jamdade, Chetan Gore, and Nilesh Dhamdere led to the detention of the perpetrators and the resolution of multiple crimes.

The Bharti Vidyapith police successfully recovered a total of Rs 15 lakhs 43 thousand from various criminal activities.

These commendable operations were carried out under the supervision of DCP Smartana Patil, ACP Narayan Shirgaonkar, and Senior Police Inspector Vijay Kumbhar. The team included API Amol Rasal and Vaibhav Gaikwad, as well as Dhiraj Gupta, Harshal Shinde, Dhanaji Dhotre, Sachin Gade, Avadhatu Jamdade, Abhinay Chaudhary, Shailesh Sathe, Abhijeet Jadhav, Mahesh Baravkar, Rahul Tambe, Vikram Sawant, and Nilesh Khairmode. Their collective efforts contributed significantly to maintaining law and order in the city of Pune.
