Pune Metro’s Speedy Ascent: 80% of Pillar Work Wrapped Up in 17 Months

The Pune Metro project, designed to establish a vital connection between the IT hub of Hinjewadi and the central hub of Shivaji Nagar, is making remarkable strides in its construction timeline.

As of the latest update, the construction of pillars along this crucial metro route is nearing completion, with 715 out of a total of 923 pillars erected, representing an impressive 80% completion rate.

A significant milestone was achieved recently when the 715th pillar was installed near Krishi Mahavidyalaya Chowk on Ganeshkhind Road. What makes this achievement even more noteworthy is that the project has reached the 700-pillar mark in just 17 months since the first pillar was cast along Ganeshkhind Road in April of the previous year.

The Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) is overseeing the Pune Metro Line 3 project, which encompasses the Hinjewadi-Shivaji Nagar route and operates through a public-private partnership. To facilitate this endeavor, Pune IT City Metro Rail Limited, a dedicated company, has been established.

In addition to the substantial progress in pillar construction, the work on pile caps for Pune Metro Line 3 has also reached its advanced stages. Currently, 810 out of the 923 pile caps required for the project have been successfully completed.

The Pune Metro project’s rapid advancement is a testament to the collaborative efforts of all stakeholders involved, bringing the city one step closer to enjoying efficient and modern public transportation.
