Pune Metro Set to Boost Connectivity: Trains Every 7.5 Minutes During Peak Hours to Ramwadi

In a significant development for Pune’s metro connectivity, trains are poised to run every 7.5 minutes during peak hours on the extended route until Ramwadi. The Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Limited (Maha Metro) has decided to maintain the current train frequency even after the recent extension.

The Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS) is in the final stages of certifying the Ruby Hall to Ramwadi section. Following last month’s inspections, Maha Metro has been working on fulfilling compliance requirements outlined by the CMRS.

Officials from Maha Metro mentioned that the decision to retain the existing frequency was made after a thorough study of the Ruby Hall to Ramwadi stretch. However, they emphasized that the number of trips during peak hours might be adjusted based on feedback once operations commence. The Metro system is well-equipped with additional rakes to meet any increased demand.

Anticipation is building for the potential inauguration of the stretch by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, with sources suggesting a visit to the city on Monday. Details of the visit are still being finalized within the city’s political circles.

A Maha Metro official confirmed that a compliance report has been submitted to the CMRS, awaiting approval at any moment. They have provided necessary information and stand ready to supply more details as required. Upon receiving certification, Maha Metro will inform the state government, which will then make the decision on the route’s official opening.

While some regular commuters in the Nagar Road region expressed concerns about potential delays, emphasizing the need for a prompt start of service, a Metro commuter stated that further delays would negatively impact passengers. Given the project’s history of delays, there is a collective hope for a swift commencement of operations on the extended route.
