Pune: In Pune’s Kothrud area, a startling incident of establishing sexual relations with a woman on the pretext of marriage and deceiving her by pilfering 94 thousand rupees in cash and 17 tolas of gold jewellery from her has come to light. In this case, a police complaint was registered against the accused at Kothrud Police Station.
A 29-year-old girl living in Thakurli, East Mumbai, filed a complaint at the Kothrud police station on Saturday, December 23. Accordingly, police apprehended 38-year-old Prasad Sawant, a resident of Rambaug Colony, Pune. This incident spanned from March 2023 to September 2, 2023, at the residence of the accused in Pune.
The victim woman mentioned in the complaint that the accused deceived her by making false promises about him. He made a friendship with the woman and consequently kept physical relations with her, promising marriage. Meanwhile, he also extracted 94 thousand rupees in cash and embezzled 17 tola gold jewellery from the victim woman for the fake reason of financial difficulty.
However, in a shocking turn of events, when the plaintiff woman asked him about his marriage promise, the accused, in a fit of rage, assaulted the woman and also abused her badly. After this, the plaintiff woman filed a complaint against the accused at Kothrud police station on Saturday.
Acting on her complaint, Kothrud police booked the accused under Indian Penal Code (IPC) 376, 376/2/N, 323, 406, and 504 and subsequently detained him. Further investigation in this case is being conducted by Assistant Police Inspector Adagale.
