Pune: CP acts against Hussain alias Sonya Yunus Shaikh and his eight accomplices under MCOCA

PUNE: The police commissioner has taken action against Hussain alias Sonya Yunus Shaikh, who had threatened to kill a person after demanding an extortion of ₹1 lakh and was spreading terror in Yerawada area and his eight accomplices under MCOCA. CP Ritesh Kumar has so far taken action against 58 organised criminal gangs under MCOCA.

The accused, Hussain alias Sonya Shaikh and Rupesh alias Dadya Rajguru demanded an extortion of ₹1 lakh to resolve an old dispute and threatened to teach him a lesson. On July 30, the complainant was going to a hospital to meet his wife. At that time, the accused Hussain or Sonya Shaikh, Rupesh alias Dadya Rajguru, Amir alias Shankya Shaikh, residents of Yerawada and his six/seven accomplices abused the complainant at Irani Market for not paying the ransom.

The complainant got scared after seeing sharp weapons which were being carried by the accused and hid in a chawl. The accused kicked on the door and shouted and created terror in the area. An FIR was registered against the accused at the Yerawada police station under sections 384, 143, 147, 148, 149, 337, 427, 504, 506 of the IPC, Arm Act, Maharashtra Police Rules, Criminal Law Amendment Act.

The police probed the case and the police have arrested Wasim Haider Ali Mogle (22), Amir alias Shankya Yunush Shaikh (18), both residents of Yerawada. Three other accused are absconding and five minor boys are involved in the case.

The accused Hussain alias Sonya Shaikh has formed a gang and has committed crimes to prove superiority of his gang. The crimes include attempted murder, causing serious injuries, house break-ins, preventing government employees from doing their work, extortion, possessing sharp weapons. Preventive action had been taken against them but they have repeatedly committed such crimes.
Sr PI Balkrishna Kadam had submitted a proposal of including sections 3 (1)(ii), 3(2), 3(4) of the MCOCA in the FIR registered against the accused at the Yerawada police station to Addl CP Ranjan Kumar Sharma through DCP Shashikant Borate. The addl CP checked the proposal and gave his approval. ACP Sanjay Patil is carrying out further probe.

The action was taken under the guidance of CP Ritesh Kumar, Joint CP Sandeep Karnik, Addl CP Ranjan Kumar Sharma, DCP Shashikant Borate, ACP Sanjay Patil of Yerawada Division by Sr PI Balkrishna Kadam, PI Kanchan Jadhav, PSI Ravindrakumar Warangule, policemen Sachin Mali, Sachin Shinde, Prakash Chowdhary, Devidas Wandhre.

Police Commissioner Ritesh Kumar is keeping a close watch on control of crime in the city and taken action against notorious criminals under MCOCA and externing them from city limits. Such action will be taken in the future also. The CP has so far taken action against 58 criminal gangs.
