Pune Makes History with the First-Ever ‘Indian Doctors Olympics’ Competition!

**Pune, the bustling city known for its rich history and vibrant culture, is set to host a groundbreaking event that will not only celebrate the athletic prowess of the medical community but also emphasize the importance of maintaining a healthy and active lifestyle. The Young Doctors League (YDL) has taken the initiative to organize the country’s inaugural ‘Indian Doctors Olympics,’ bringing together over 1,000 doctors from all over the nation to compete in a variety of sporting disciplines.

The Chairman of the ‘Indian Doctors Olympics’ (IDL) Committee, Dr. Nachiket Mahindrakar, and Secretary Dr. Ameet Dravid, provided insight into this exciting event during a press conference. The ‘Indian Doctors Olympics’ aims to unite medical professionals in a spirit of friendly competition and wellness. It offers a platform where doctors can showcase their athletic abilities, build camaraderie, and promote the significance of a healthy and active lifestyle.

The sports extravaganza is not just about competition; it’s about acknowledging the dedication and skills of doctors while highlighting the pivotal role of sports in maintaining both physical and mental well-being.

This competition will feature various team and individual sports, serving as a testament to the multifaceted talents of doctors. Dr. Nitin Gadkari and Dr. Sandeep Patil, members of the IDO committee, stressed the importance of such events in maintaining the balance of physical and mental health.

To ensure the seamless execution of this event, a dedicated organizing committee has been formed. Dr. Nachiket Mahindrakar, the Chairman, and Dr. Ameet Dravid, the Secretary, are leading the planning. With the support of Dr. Nitin Gadkari, Dr. Sandeep Patil, Dr. Rahul Patil, Dr. Ankush Bhandari, Dr. Vaibhav Dudhat, and a team of over 200 doctors, the management of the competition is in capable hands. Various committees are overseeing different aspects, including team and individual sport planning, cultural programs, social media and information, travel and accommodation, and hospitality management.

The ‘Indian Doctors Olympics’ will be hosted at multiple venues across Pune, including Sri Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex Balewadi, PYC Hindu Gymkhana, Deccan Gymkhana Club, Vision Academy ground Sinhagad road, Scale up academy ground Warje, DSK Star cricket academy ground Dhayari, and Shinde High School Sahakarnagar. The competition is scheduled to take place from November 30 to December 3, 2023.

The sporting events will encompass a wide range of activities, including Lawn Tennis, Table Tennis, Carrom, Badminton, Athletics, and Swimming. These events will be categorized by age, with competitions for those below 35 years, 35 to below 50 years, 50 to 60 years, and above 60 years.

The team events will feature cricket, box football, volleyball, and throw ball for both men and women.

This unprecedented event has gained significant recognition, with participants hailing from various states across the country, including Maharashtra, Karnataka, Delhi, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Telangana, Kerala, West Bengal, and Tamil Nadu. Players from Pune and several other districts will also be in attendance.

The ‘Indian Doctors Olympics’ is made possible through the generous support of Serum Institute of India, Pune, the title sponsor, and the sponsorship of corporate entities like Assure skin and laser clinic, Aurobindo pharma, Ruby Hall Clinic, Medicover hospital, Skin and surgery international, Noble hospitals and Research Centre, and Poona Diagnostic Services.
