Pune Leopard Attack: Father and Son Survive Terrifying Encounter

Otur, Pune – A horrifying incident unfolded at approximately 9 pm on Thursday when a father and son from Otur were suddenly attacked in their home by a leopard. The victim, senior citizen Lakshman Dattatray Dumbare (71), sustained severe injuries during the attack and was promptly rushed to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.

Lakshman Dumbare and his son Pravin Dumbre were en route to their home on a motorcycle when the unexpected leopard attack occurred. Local forest officers swiftly responded to the scene, providing initial medical assistance to the injured victim at the first aid center in Otur before transferring him to Narayangaon Rural Hospital for further treatment.

Precautionary measures have been implemented in the vicinity of the incident, including the installation of a cage trap. Authorities also plan to place an additional cage nearby, as confirmed by officials.

Notably, the region encompassing Ahinavewadi and its environs has been designated as a leopard-prone zone. Residents in this area are strongly advised to take precautions, including installing outdoor lighting during nighttime hours, avoiding solitary outdoor activities, playing music on mobile phones, and securing their livestock within enclosures to minimize the risk of leopard-related incidents. This advisory has been issued by the Forest Department to prioritize citizen safety.

In another alarming incident reported on the same day in Otur, a leopard was captured in the parking area in front of a row house while attempting to seize a dog.
