Pune: Girl ends life after boyfriend avoids paying loan instalments

PUNE: A girl took loans from various sources to give the money to her boyfriend but he did not pay the instalments and harassed his girlfriend. Since she was fed up, she died by hanging herself to the ceiling fan. After a complaint was lodged by the girl’s mother, an FIR has been registered against the girl’s boyfriend for abetting the girl’s suicide.

The deceased has been identified as Rasika alias Rani Ravindra Divte (25), a resident of Ghorpadi. Her arrested boyfriend has been identified as Adarsh Ajaykumar Menon (25), a resident of Manjari. Rasika’s mother Chanda Ravindra Divte (48) has lodged a complaint against Adarsh Menon at the Hadapsar police station.

According to the police, Rasika and Adarsh were in a relationship since January 2023. Adarsh took loans of ₹3.75 lakh on various occasions via credit card, personal loan and

5-6 loan apps through Rasika. He had assured Rasika that he would pay the instalments on time. However, since he was not paying instalments on time, there were frequent fights between the two.

Since Adarsh was mentally harassing her, she took the extreme step. After a complaint was lodged, the police arrested Adarsh Menon and PSI Ashok Gandhle of Hadapsar police station is carrying out a probe.
