Pune Flourishes with Colors: PMC’s 42nd Annual Fruits, Flowers, and Vegetables Exhibition Blooms in Shivajinagar

Shivajinagar, Pune: The vibrancy of nature and the creativity of residents come to life at the 42nd Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) Annual Fruits, Flowers, and Vegetables Competition and Exhibition, currently captivating visitors at Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj Garden on Jangli Maharaj Road, Shivajinagar. The event, coinciding with the PMC’s anniversary, kicked off on February 10 and continues through February 11.

Inauguration and Opening: The grand opening ceremony, presided over by Pune Municipal Commissioner Vikram Kumar, commenced at 11 am on February 10. Following the inauguration, the exhibition opened its doors to the public, offering a delightful visual feast of fruits, flowers, and vegetables. Attendees using the PMC Care app enjoy swift entry to the event.

Diverse Displays and Competitions: The exhibition features 12 sections with 216 subdivisions, showcasing a wide range of competitions and displays. From decorative arrangements to floral collections and vegetable presentations, the event boasts a diverse array of nature’s wonders. Notable highlights include various flower species, intricate garden replicas, and a prize distribution ceremony scheduled for winners on February 11 at 5 pm.

Participation and Collaborations: Participation extends beyond individual entries, with various institutions, including Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) and the Forest Department, actively contributing to the exhibition. PMC has collaborated with organizations and volunteers to ensure the smooth functioning of the event. Zeal College of Engineering and Research’s enthusiastic volunteers are actively involved in enhancing the visitor experience.

Event Attractions and Initiatives: Visitors can indulge in exploring bonsai displays, admiring paper crafts, and participating in initiatives promoting cycling. Dedicated selfie points with picturesque backgrounds have been set up to capture memorable moments. Stalls selling floral, fruit, and gardening items are operational from 8:00 am to 8:30 pm on both days.

Anticipated Turnout: Snehal Harpale, PMC Assistant Garden Superintendent, expressed optimism about the public’s positive response, expecting over 100,000 people to attend the exhibition over the two days. Parking facilities near the riverbed have been arranged to prevent congestion on the typically busy JM road.
