Pune: Electricity Fluctuations and Multiple Blasts Cause Major Power Outage in Porwal Road

Pune faced an unprecedented power outage on 27th July 2023, leaving residents of Porwal Road, Lohegaon, in darkness due to a series of electricity fluctuations and multiple blasts in the distribution panel (DP). The incident resulted in extensive cable damage caused by the ensuing fire, leading to a significant disruption in power supply in the affected areas.

The Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) officials promptly responded to the situation. According to MSEDCL spokesperson, Pro Nishikant Raut, the power outage extended beyond the Park Springs society, impacting several surrounding societies as well. Raut assured residents that the authorities were working diligently to resolve the issue, but the extent of damage would require substantial time for complete restoration.

The Vishrantwadi division MSEDCL official stated, “Investigations into the cause of the electricity fluctuations and blasts are ongoing, and our team is working tirelessly to replace the damaged cables and restore electricity in the affected areas.” Despite their efforts, the Park Springs society bore the brunt of the outage and was expected to experience a longer waiting time for restoration.

Local residents of Porwal Road expressed their frustration as they endured hours of power fluctuations and uncertainty. With businesses impacted, they urged MSEDCL to expedite the restoration process without waiting for individual complaints.

Social media platforms witnessed an outcry from affected individuals, drawing attention to the quality of service provided by MSEDCL. One such tweet, by Utkarsh Tiwari, highlighted severe disruptions to businesses and a perceived lack of resolution throughout the day.

As the situation unfolded, authorities reassured the public that every possible step was being taken to address the issue. Residents were urged to remain patient while the dedicated teams of professionals worked round the clock to rectify the damage and restore power to the affected areas.
