Pune District Gears Up for Lok Sabha Polls: Voting Dates Announced for Key Constituencies

As the Lok Sabha elections draw near, Pune and its neighboring constituencies are preparing for their turn at the ballot box. With Pune, Maval, and Shirur scheduled to go to polls on May 13, and Baramati set for May 7, the political landscape in the district is abuzz with anticipation. The announcement of election dates during a press conference by the Election Commission in Delhi has ushered in the implementation of the model code of conduct, signaling a new phase in the electoral process.

In Pune alone, a staggering 81,27,019 lakh voters are poised to exercise their democratic right across 8,213 polling centers. Meanwhile, in Baramati, 23,15,968 voters will have the opportunity to cast their ballots at 2,450 polling centers.

The electorate in Maval comprises over 13,27,993 lakh voters, who will be accommodated across 1,308 polling booths. Similarly, in Shirur, a substantial voter base of 24,79,742 lakh individuals will have access to 2,442 polling centers.

With the onset of the model code of conduct, local civic bodies are restrained from announcing any policy decisions or schemes that could influence voters. Suhas Diwase, the Pune district collector, emphasized the importance of adhering to these guidelines, announcing plans to scrutinize all work order registration records of civic bodies to ensure compliance.

As the election fervor intensifies and campaigns gain momentum, citizens across Pune district eagerly anticipate the opportunity to shape the future through their votes.
