A proposal has been submitted to the municipal commissioner’s office seeking extension of deadline till December 31

PUNE: Since there is very poor response to the scheme to regularise constructions in gunthewari, the Building Construction Department has submitted a proposal to the municipal commissioner’s office for extending the deadline. After his approval, a decision will be taken about the extension of the deadline. Small constructions have been carried out on half guntha, one and two guntha and these constructions are nearly 70,000 as per the data available with the department.

The state government has decided to regularise constructions in gunthewari. The process has been started from 2021. However, the scheme has received a poor response due to the need of submitting necessary documents, official charges and complicated rules.

The PMC had received 856 applications for gunthewari but only 21 applications have been approved and 547 applications have been rejected. Meanwhile, 289 applications are waiting for approval. Meanwhile, the civic administration had set the deadline of July 31, 2023. After the deadline was over, political parties had demanded that the deadline be extended.

Accordingly, the date of submitting applications has been extended by four months and citizens can submit applications till December 31. A proposal to this effect has been sent to the municipal commissioner’s office.
