Pune: CP takes action against Bitya Kuchekar and his seven accomplices under MCOCA; This is the 77th such action taken by Police Commissioner Ritesh Kumar so far

PUNE: Police Commissioner Ritesh Kumar has taken action against Swapnil alias Bitya Kuchekar, who had terrorised residents of Hadapsar and Manjari, and his seven accomplices under MCOCA. The CP has so far taken action against 77 organised criminal gangs under MCOCA.

Swapnil alias Bitya Sanjay Kuchekar (23), a resident of Manjari, Pankaj Gorakh Waghmare (28), a resident of Hadapsar and Harshal Suresh Ghule (23), a resident of Manjari have been arrested earlier. Their three minor accomplices have been apprehended. Action under MCOCA has been taken against the accused and two absconding accused. On September 24, 2023 Bitya Kuchekar and his accomplices had tried to kill a person who had told them to reduce the volume of the speaker. An FIR of attempt to murder has been registered at the Hadapsar police station.

Gang leader Swapnil alias Bitya Sanjay Kuchekar had formed a criminal gang with the help of his accomplices and has committed serious crimes to increase his stranglehold in Manjari, Hadapsar, Shewalvadi, Loni toll naka. The crimes include attempt to murder, possessing sharp weapons to cause injuries, dacoity and robbery. Kuchekar gang had created a reign of terror in the area and nobody wanted to lodge a complaint against the gang.

Sr PI Ravindra Shelke had submitted a proposal to Addl CP Ranjan Kumar Sharma through DCP Vikrant Deshmukh regarding taking action under MCOCA against the accused. The proposal was checked and CP Ritesh Kumar has taken action against Kuchekar gang under MCOCA. Further investigation is being carried out by Ashwini Rakh.

The action was taken under the guidance of CP Ritesh Kumar, Joint CP Sandeep Karnik, Addl CP Ranjan Kumar Sharma, DCP Vikrant Deshmukh, ACP Ashwini Rakh by Sr PI Ravindra Shelke, PI Vishwas Dagle, PI Sandip Shivle, API Sarika Jagtap, API Sachin Dabhade, policemen Pravin Shinde, Girish Ekorge, Mahesh Ubale, Rajashree Khaire, Wasim Shaikh, Baba Shinde and Ashok Andhare.
