Pune: Commissioner Put Recidivist Rishikesh Nevale Under Arrest; Invoked Stringent MPDA Act to Mark 88th Action Under Law

Pune: Pune police have taken yet another significant punitive action under the Maharashtra Prevention of Dangerous Activities of Slumlords, Bootleggers, Drug Offenders, and Dangerous Persons (MPDA) Act to further restore the law and order situation in the city. In the latest action, the police commissioner apprehended notorious criminal Rishikesh, alias Dagdya Bhagwat Nevale, under the MPDA Act.

22-year-old Newale is a notorious criminal and has been booked in various police stations in the city under various serious crimes such as attempted murder, kidnapping, rioting, and spreading terror within the Viman Nagar and Samarth police station limits.

The accused is a recidivist and has been previously charged, along with his accomplices, with spreading terror by possessing various illegal weapons such as iron daggers, swords, machetes, etc. Police informed that in the last five years, the accused has been named for eight serious crimes that took place within city limits.

His delinquent activities were rising day by day. This has created a sense of fear among residents of the area who were hesitating to openly lodge a complaint against the accused, fearing a potential threat to their lives and property.

Taking note of it, the Pune police team sent a proposal for taking action against the accused under the MPDA Act to Pune City Police Commissioner Ritesh Kumar. After verifying the proposals and documents received, the Commissioner of Police has ordered Rishikesh Nevale to be lodged in Nagpur Central Jail for one year.

This operation was carried out by a team of Senior Police Inspector Anandrao Khobare of Airport Police Station, Crime Branch, Senior Police Inspector Chandrakant Bedre of PCB, police officers, and other police enforcers.

This is the 88th such action of the police commissioner after taking charge of the city’s law and order as a commissioner, and the commissioner has intended his commitment to take such measures henceforth also to maintain the law and order in the city.
