Pune City Congress Stages Protest against Kirit Somaiya’s Visit, Shows Black Flags

Pune: Tensions flared in Parvati area today as BJP leader Kirit Somaiya was scheduled to visit a BJP worker’s house in Laxminagar to participate in Chhappan Bhog celebrations. Pune City District Congress Committee, led by city president Arvind Shinde, along with Parvati Block Congress, organized a protest against Somaiya’s visit. Activists gathered at Gajanan Maharaj Math Chowk, where slogans were raised against the BJP leader, and black flags were displayed to express their disapproval.

In a show of dissent, some activists even threw bangles at Kirit Somaiya’s car as a symbolic gesture of protest. The demonstrators were voicing their discontent with the actions of certain BJP leaders, whom they believe engage in shameful acts on social media, all while receiving government-provided security.

City President Arvind Shinde made it clear that the Congress party will continue its agitation against Kirit Somaiya and other leaders whom they deem to be involved in questionable activities. Shinde expressed concern about the security measures provided to such leaders despite their alleged misconduct.

During the demonstration, Congress activists Saddam Sheikh, Swapnil Naik, Akshay Mane, and Akshay Sagar were arrested for their involvement in throwing black flags at Somaiya’s car.

On this occasion, former mayor Kamal Vyavahare, Sangeeta Tiwari, Ajit Darekar, Rafiq Shaikh, Sujit Yadav, T. S. Polekar, Santosh Patole, Hemant Rajbhoj, Shiva Bhokare, Prakash Arane, Tai Kasbe, Manisha Gaikwad, Jyoti Arven, Jaya Gangurde, Gorakh Maral, Sujit Lajurkar, Ashitosh Shinde, Munna Khandelwal, Chaya Jadhav, Sundara Oval, Usha Rajguru, Sonia Oval, Papita Sonawane, Kavita Gaik, Manisha Oval, Karvetai, Shabbir Sheikh, Manisha Shinde, Chhaya Salunkhe, Aparna Taware, Manisha Shinde and others participated.
