Pune: Businessman and member of gram panchayat murdered over professional rivalry in Khed taluka

PUNE: A shocking incident has been reported from Khed taluka. A youth, who was a member of a Kanhersar gram panchayat, was killed due to professional rivalry between companies located in the SEZ in the taluka. The incident has sent shock waves in the area. The deceased has ben identified as Santosh Ramdas Daundkar (35), a resident of Kanhersar in Khed taluka.

According to the available information, the work of the second phase of the SEZ project is going on. Santosh Daundkar had started a crane business and he was supplying cranes to many companies. He had achieved success in a short span and expanded his business.

When Santosh was near the company’s godown on Friday evening, he was assaulted by unknown assailants. Santosh tried to put up a resistance but he lost the thumb of one of his hands. When Santosh was running away to save his life, the assailants chased him and assaulted him which led to his death. It is being speculated that the assault was carried out by notorious criminals.

This incident proves that bagging contracts from companies is turning out to be a very risky affair. The police have started an investigation. A similar incident had taken place four years ago. Local citizens had gathered in large numbers at the spot. The murder of Santosh Daundkar raises questions whether this incident will lead to an upsurge in crime in Khed taluka.
