Pune-Bangalore Highway to Remain Closed Near Chandni Chowk for a Few Hours till July 15 Starting Today

Pune, 4th July 2023: The Traffic Department of Pune City has announced the closure of traffic movement on the Pune-Bangalore Highway near Chandni Chowk for three hours each day over the next 11 days. This decision has been made to facilitate the ongoing road work at Chandni Chowk.

According to officials, the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) will be installing a girder at Chandni Chowk. To ensure the smooth progress of this work, the traffic movement on this section of the Pune-Bangalore Highway will be closed from 12:30 am to 3:30 am between July 4 and July 15.

During this period, the movement of heavy vehicles will be completely restricted, while light vehicles will be able to use the Ved Bhavan service road to continue their journey. Those who wish to enter the city from this area can utilize Ramp Number 6 and proceed to Warje.

Officials have reported that nearly 95% of the ongoing work at Chandni Chowk has already been completed, and the project is now in its final stages. The construction work on the new Pashan main bridge (Vehicular Overpass) has reached the substructure stage, with the superstructure work currently in progress. This necessitated the diversion of traffic movement.

During the three-hour closure each day, heavy vehicles will be halted at specific points, including the Pune-Mumbai Expressway, Talegaon Toll Plaza, Sompatane Phata, and Old Pune-Mumbai Highway. Similarly, heavy vehicles traveling from Satara and heading towards Mumbai will be stopped near the Khed Shivapur Toll Plaza.

The temporary closure of the Pune-Bangalore Highway near Chandni Chowk is a necessary measure to ensure the safety and smooth execution of the ongoing road work. Commuters are advised to plan their travel accordingly, taking into account the specified closure timings. Additionally, motorists should follow the instructions and directions provided by traffic authorities on alternative routes and diversions.

Efficient traffic management and coordination between the concerned authorities will help minimize any inconvenience caused by the temporary closure. Commuters are encouraged to stay updated with the latest traffic advisories and make necessary adjustments to their travel plans during the specified period.

The completion of the road work at Chandni Chowk will ultimately enhance the overall infrastructure and connectivity, benefiting both commuters and residents in the long run.
