Infosys, one of India’s leading IT firms, is facing scrutiny over allegations of onboarding delays affecting more than 2,000 campus recruits. The Nascent Information Technology Employees Senate (NITES), a prominent organization representing IT professionals, has lodged a complaint with the Ministry of Labour & Employment, calling for an investigation into the matter.
According to Harpreet Singh Saluja, president of NITES, many of the affected recruits have been waiting for onboarding for over two years, despite receiving job offers from Infosys. This delay has caused significant financial hardship and uncertainty for the recruits, who turned down other job opportunities based on Infosys’s offer letters.
Saluja emphasized that the prolonged delay has not only impacted the recruits financially but has also taken a toll on their mental and emotional well-being. “Infosys’s actions have breached the trust of these young professionals, leaving them in a state of limbo,” he remarked.
In its letter to the Ministry, NITES outlined several key demands, including full salary payments for the period of delay, immediate access to employee assistance programs for mental and emotional support, and active efforts by Infosys to explore alternative employment opportunities within the organization.
“The Ministry’s intervention is crucial to safeguard the interests and future careers of these young professionals,” Saluja stressed. “We urge swift action to ensure that they are not unfairly penalized for Infosys’s alleged lapses.”
Infosys has been contacted for a statement regarding the allegations, and their response will be included once available. The case underscores the importance of transparent and timely onboarding processes to uphold the rights and well-being of employees.
