Pune Airport Set to Unveil State-of-the-Art Terminal on March 10

In a significant development for air travel in Pune, the city’s airport is poised to inaugurate its new terminal on March 10, ushering in a state-of-the-art facility that seamlessly blends modernity with Maharashtra’s rich cultural heritage. The eagerly anticipated terminal, covering an expansive 51,595 square meters, is expected to elevate the passenger experience while substantially boosting the airport’s capacity to handle 12 million travelers annually, a notable increase from the existing capacity of 7.2 million.

Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, who visited Pune Airport on January 14, emphasized the recent completion of the project during his inspection. The minister’s proactive approach has played a pivotal role in ensuring the timely realization of this ambitious initiative.

Highlighting the broader scope of the inauguration, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is slated to virtually inaugurate not only Pune Airport but also airports in Kolhapur, Jabalpur, and Gwalior on the same day. The online inauguration ceremony on March 10 will be a momentous occasion for these airports and a testament to the government’s commitment to bolstering air connectivity across the country.

Eknath Shinde, the Chief Minister of Maharashtra, is expected to be present in Pune for the inauguration ceremony, underscoring the significance of this infrastructural milestone for the state.

Adding to the convenience of passengers, a pedestrian bridge has been constructed to connect Aeromall to the airport terminal. The inclusion of a sliding staircase and a lift facilitates easy access to the bridge, ensuring a seamless transition for travelers. Additionally, provisions have been made to alleviate the burden on passengers carrying luggage, exemplifying a thoughtful approach to passenger comfort and convenience.

The upcoming inauguration marks a transformative moment for Pune Airport, aligning with the broader vision of enhancing air travel infrastructure and connectivity in the region.
