Pune: Action of detainment taken against notorious criminal under MPDA Act; This is the 47th such action taken by CP Ritesh Kumar

PUNE: Police Commissioner Ritesh Kumar has taken action of detainment under the MPDA Act against notorious criminal Ravi Shyam Waghmare (31), a resident of Gosavi Vasti, Kothrud who had spread terror in the limits of Alankar police station by committing serious crimes. This is the 47th such action which has been taken by the police commissioner.

The accused Ravi Waghmare is a notorious criminal on police records. He has committed serious crimes by harbouring sharp weapons like knife and sickle. The crimes include robbery, causing injury, assaulting government employees, riots and possessing sharp weapons.

His criminal activities had posed a danger to the lives of local citizens and obstructed the law and order in the area. Local residents were scared to complain against him because of his reign of terror.
Five FIRs have been registered against Waghmare in five years.

A proposal of taking detainment action against him had been submitted to the police commissioner. The CP checked the proposal and the documents and issued the order of detaining Waghmare under the MPDA Act at the Amravati Central Prison for a year.

The action was taken by Senior PI Rajesh Tatkare of Alankar police station and PCB Crime Branch’s Senior PI AT Khobre. The CP has so far taken detainment action against 47 criminals under the MPDA Act. In the future also, such action will be taken.
