PUNE: Laxmi Road, Shivaji Road, Kumthekar Road, Tilak Road, Bajirao Road, Kelkar Road and 11 other important roads in the city will be shut due to the immersion procession on Thursday (September 28).
The traffic police have arrangements for the immersion procession and there will be a strict bandobast. Along with officials of the traffic police, 700 police personnel will take care of traffic arrangements. Instructions have been given to officials and personnel to provide immediate aid during an emergency and make way available for ambulances. The police have created parking areas where citizens who want to watch the procession, can park their vehicles, said DCP (Traffic) Vijay Kumar Magar while speaking with media persons.
The roads which are closed for traffic will be opened for traffic after the procession ends. Roads which are closed for traffic are as follows: Shivaji Road, Laxmi Road, Bajirao Road, Kumthekar Road, Ganesh Road, Tilak Road, Kelkar Road, Shastri Road, Jungli Maharaj Road (Jhanshichi Rani Chowk to Khandujibaba Chowk), Karve Road, (Nal Stop Chowk to Khandujibaba Chowk), Fergusson Road (Khandujibaba Chowk to Fergusson College entrance), Bhandarkar Road (PYC Gymkhana to Gokhale Smarak Chowk), Pune-Satara Road (Volga Chowk to Jedhe Chowk), Solapur Road (Dhole Patil Chowk-Seven Loves Chowk to Jedhe Chowk), Prabhat Road (Deccan police station to Shelarmama Chowk), Bagade Road (Sonya Maruti Chowk to Fadke Haud Chowk), Guru Nanak Road (Devjibaba Chowk to Hamjekhan Chowk to Govind Halwai Chowk).
The traffic police have created an alternate circular road and they have appealed to citizens to use it. The circular route is as follows: Karve Road, Nal Stop Chowk, Law College Road, Senapati Bapat Road, Ganeshkhind Road, Vedhashala Chowk, Sancheti Hospital, College of Engineering, Shahir Amar Sheikh Chowk, Maldhakka Chowk, Bolhai Chowk, Narpatgiri Chowk, Nehru Road, Sant Kabir Police Outpost, Seven Loves Chowk, Wakhar Mahamandal Chowk, Market Yard, Shivneri Road, Satara Road, Laxminarayan Cinema, Mitramandal Chowk, Sinhagad Road, Shastri Road, Senadat Police Chowki, Mhatre Bridge, Nal Stop Chowk.
