Provocative Speeches in Pune Rally: Milind Ekbote and Associates Face Charges

The Pune City Police have taken legal action against Milind Ekbote, the president of the Samasta Hindu Aghadi organization, and three others for allegedly delivering inflammatory speeches during a rally organized in the city in the first week of September. The rally, held without permission from local authorities, is said to have featured hate-filled speeches that could potentially incite clashes between different communities.

The three additional individuals implicated in the case are Kunal Someshwar Kamble, president of Punyeshwar Punarnirman Samiti, along with Kiran Chandrakant Shinde and Vishal Dilip Pawar. Furthermore, the police have registered cases against unidentified participants who were part of the rally. Prior to this legal action, several activists from the city had filed a complaint with the local police, urging action against Ekbote and others involved.

The Shivajinagar Police have invoked sections 141, 142, 143, 153, 109, and 188 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) against the accused. The police assert that the case was filed following a comprehensive report based on preliminary information provided by concerned city police officials.

The rally in question took place on September 4 and was organized to protest alleged encroachments by a religious establishment. Notably, BJP MLAs Nitish Rane and Mahesh Landage were also in attendance, during which they made contentious statements directed at municipal corporation officials for their purported inaction regarding the alleged encroachments.
