Protecting Pune’s Pets: Man Charged Under Animal Cruelty Act

Hadapsar, Pune – In a shocking incident of animal cruelty, the Hadapsar police in Pune have booked a man for allegedly firing upon a pet dog, leading to severe injuries. The complaint was lodged by Priti Vikas Agrawal, the owner of the injured canine, who reported the incident to the police on November 21 near Kiran Enclave Lokmangal Society in Manjari.

According to Agrawal’s complaint, the accused claimed that the dog had been a constant source of harassment and irritation during his daily passage through the locality. Seeking a solution to what he perceived as a menace, the accused allegedly resorted to extreme measures on the night of November 21 at around 11:00 pm, firing upon the dog with a sports gun and causing significant harm to the innocent animal.

Police Inspector Ravindra Shelke stated, “Taking cognizance of the complaint, we have initiated an investigation into this case and have subsequently arrested the accused. He faces charges under various sections of the Animal Cruelty Act.”
