Poor State of MSRTC Bus Stands in Pune Division: Survey Unveils Startling Results

Pune, August 13, 2023: A recent survey conducted on the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) bus stands has brought to light concerning revelations. Shockingly, out of the 36 bus stands situated within the Pune division, only 5 were found to be in a commendable condition, while 11 were marked as being in a state of disrepair. The survey was conducted under the ‘Hindu Hriday Samrat Balasaheb Thackeray Swachh and Sundar ST Stand’ campaign, commemorating India’s 75 years of Independence.

The campaign serves as a platform for a competition that aims to identify and reward the best state transport (ST) stands. The victorious ST stands will be bestowed with substantial cash rewards, with the top performers receiving Rs 50 lakh, followed by Rs 25 lakh and Rs 10 lakh for the second and third-place winners, respectively. The competition spans six rounds and will be conducted within the span of a year, leading up to the declaration of the finalists.

The survey’s findings shed light on the existing condition of the bus stands within the Pune division. Out of the total, a mere 5 ST stands were deemed to be in good condition, 20 were categorized as being in a moderate state, while a concerning 11 ST stands were deemed to be in a state of deterioration. The survey was meticulously undertaken by a divisional committee between the months of May and July of this year.

The condition of these ST stands holds significant implications for commuters and the transportation sector at large. A well-maintained and functional ST stand not only ensures the safety and convenience of travelers but also reflects the commitment of the authorities toward offering a seamless travel experience. It is crucial for such infrastructural elements to be well-maintained to uphold the region’s reputation as a reliable and efficient transportation network.
