An unsettling incident unfolded at the Abhiruchi police chowky on Sinhagad Road when a male policeman from the ‘Force One’ team of the Mumbai police force allegedly assaulted a woman police inspector. The victim filed a complaint at the Sinhagad Road police station, leading to a case being registered against Nilesh Andres Bhalerao, a resident of Kalina, Santacruz, Mumbai.
According to the police, Nilesh Bhalerao serves as a police officer in the Force One team in Mumbai, while the complainant is a female police inspector working in the State Intelligence Department (SID). The root of the altercation between Bhalerao and the female police inspector can be traced back to 2018 when Bhalerao was undergoing training. During that period, a case was filed against him, accusing him of obstructing government work and molestation.
Initially, the female police inspector had filed a complaint against Bhalerao at the Wanwadi police station. Subsequently, Bhalerao’s family approached her, and at their behest, she agreed to withdraw the complaint. However, following the withdrawal of the case, Bhalerao allegedly resumed harassing her. Faced with this situation, the police inspector, accompanied by her husband, visited the Abhiruchi police chowky on Sinhagad Road to register a fresh complaint. It was during this visit that the accused, Bhalerao, arrived at the station.
Within the premises of the Abhiruchi police chowky, a confrontation between Bhalerao and the female police inspector escalated into an assault. Consequently, the Sinhagad Road police have registered a case against Bhalerao, charging him with molestation and assault. Assistant Police Inspector Bharat Chandanshiv is overseeing the investigation into this disturbing incident.
