PMPML’s Strict Hand: Over 3 Lakh Rupees in Fines from Ticketless Passengers

In an effort to reinforce the importance of adhering to regulations and maintaining discipline within its public transportation network, the Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) has taken stern measures against ticketless passengers. From October 1 to October 15, 2023, PMPML’s vigilant inspections led to the collection of fines exceeding 3 lakh rupees from those who failed to produce valid tickets during their bus journey.

Ensuring Accountability:

The PMPML, dedicated to providing efficient and lawful public transit services, has implemented a stringent penalty system for passengers traveling without tickets. Passengers caught in violation of this rule are subjected to a fine of Rs 500. During the specified period, a total of 619 passengers were found traveling without valid tickets, resulting in the collection of over 3 lakh rupees in fines.

Promoting Ethical Commuting:

The fines imposed on ticketless passengers are part of PMPML’s broader commitment to ensuring that all passengers contribute fairly to the cost of public transportation services. This not only maintains the financial sustainability of the service but also underscores the importance of ethical and responsible commuting. By penalizing ticketless travel, PMPML fosters an environment of accountability among its passengers.
