PMPML’s Metro Feeder Service Rakes In ₹26 Lakh in September: A Boon for Pune Commuters

The Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited’s (PMPML) metro feeder service, designed to enhance connectivity for metro train passengers in Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad, has garnered significant success and revenue. The latest data released by PMPML for September showcases the financial performance of the metro feeder service, revealing promising earnings and indicating its growing popularity among citizens.

Metro Feeder Service Gains Momentum

PMPML introduced the metro feeder service with the primary objective of facilitating seamless commuting for metro train travelers in the region. The positive response from the community underscores the service’s effectiveness in improving the overall transportation experience.

Impressive Revenue Figures

The revenue data for September demonstrated the financial viability of the metro feeder service. PMPML collected ₹23.82 lakh from Pune city and ₹2.88 lakh from Pimpri-Chinchwad, culminating in a total revenue of over ₹26 lakh. These figures reflect a growing demand for the service and its significant contribution to the region’s transportation network.

Diverse Metro Shuttle Routes

The metro feeder service encompasses multiple shuttle routes, each serving specific areas and addressing the unique transportation needs of the community. Among these routes, metro shuttle 2, connecting Deccan and Warje Malwadi, emerged as the highest earner, generating ₹59.90 per kilometer. On the other hand, metro shuttle 37, linking Pimpri Metro Station and Kivle village, had comparatively lower earnings at ₹5.16 per kilometer.

Expanding Fleet to Meet Demand

The surging demand for feeder buses has led to an increase in the operational fleet. Presently, 26 buses are in service, with 22 of them operating from the Pune Metro station and the remaining four from the Pimpri-Chinchwad section. This expansion is a testament to the service’s growing popularity and the increasing reliance of commuters on the metro feeder buses.

Future Plans for Enhanced Connectivity

PMPML has ambitious plans to further enhance connectivity in the region. With the launch of the Ramwadi Metro service, the transportation authority is gearing up to introduce a dedicated metro feeder bus service that will run from Ramwadi Metro Station to Pune Airport. These electric buses are expected to operate at a frequency of every 15 minutes, offering a convenient and eco-friendly commuting option for travelers.

The success of PMPML’s metro feeder service in September, with impressive revenue figures and an expanding operational fleet, underscores its crucial role in improving connectivity for metro train passengers in Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad. As the service continues to evolve and expand, it promises to provide commuters with a reliable and efficient transportation option.
