PMPML Steps Up Service: Extra Buses to Roll Out During Pune’s Ganeshotsav Festival

As Pune gears up for the much-awaited Ganeshotsav festival, the Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) has announced plans to enhance public transportation services during the festivities. From September 19 to 28, 2023, PMPML will be deploying additional buses to accommodate the surge in commuters and ensure hassle-free travel.

Boosting Services for Ganeshotsav

To accommodate the increased demand during the festival, PMPML has designed a comprehensive plan to offer efficient transportation solutions:

1. Additional Buses: On specific dates, PMPML will deploy a substantial number of additional buses to ease the commute for festival-goers. The schedule includes:

  • 168 extra buses on September 20, 21, and 27.
  • 654 extra buses on September 22, 23, 25, and 26.

2. Special Bus Service: PMPML will introduce a special bus service that adapts to passenger rush at various stations, ensuring the convenience of citizens. This special service will connect several vital locations, including:

  • Swargate Bus Stand to Katraj, Dhankawadi, Bharati Vidyapeeth, Narhe, Ambegaon, Jambhulwadi, Upper Indiranagar, Market Yard, Sangvi, and Alandi.

3. Daily Operations Schedule: During the Ganeshotsav period, PMPML’s daily operation will conclude at 10.00 pm. After this time, all buses will transition to yatra special services.

4. Additional Fare for Late Services: To support the extended operational hours, passengers using bus services after 10.00 pm will incur an additional fare of Rs 5 in addition to the regular fare.

5. Pass Discount: While the night bus service is in operation during Ganeshotsav, special pass discounts will apply to all pass holders until 12.00 pm. Beyond this time, passes will not be valid for travel.

6. Diversion of Buses: The police department’s road closures in the city during the evening hours necessitate alternative routes for bus services during Ganeshotsav.

Travel Smart, Use Public Transport

PMPML has encouraged citizens to plan their journeys in advance and leverage public transportation to avoid the expected traffic congestion during Ganeshotsav. This initiative aligns with the city’s commitment to providing efficient and accessible public transport services during major festivals, ensuring that citizens can celebrate with ease and convenience.
