PMC’s Cleanup Crusade: 139 Vehicles Seized in Ongoing Drive to Tackle Traffic Obstructions

Pune Municipal Corporation

In a proactive move to address the persistent issue of abandoned vehicles causing traffic disruptions in Pune, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has launched a campaign to clear roads and footpaths. The ongoing initiative has seen the seizure of 139 abandoned vehicles, including four-wheelers, two-wheelers, and three-wheelers, that contribute to traffic congestion and environmental concerns.

Madhav Jagtap, Deputy Commissioner of the Anti-Encroachment Department at PMC, shared details about the ongoing campaign, emphasizing the need to alleviate the challenges posed by abandoned and unrepaired vehicles within the municipal limits. These vehicles not only impede traffic flow but also lead to the accumulation of garbage and unpleasant odors, prompting action from the PMC in response to citizen complaints.

To facilitate a smoother process, PMC encourages citizens to cooperate by removing their vehicles from public spaces. Owners of seized vehicles have the option to redeem them within one month by paying the applicable removal charges. Notices are being affixed to identified vehicles, providing a seven-day window for owners to comply with the removal directive. Failure to do so within the stipulated timeframe results in the confiscation of the vehicle by the PMC.

To report abandoned and unrepaired vehicles, citizens are urged to send complaints along with photos and location details to the PMC through WhatsApp at 9689931900. The campaign aims not only to enhance traffic flow but also to contribute to the cleanliness and overall environment of the city.
