Pune, September 21, 2023 – The Pune Municipal Corporation’s (PMC) Anti-Encroachment department executed a determined anti-encroachment campaign on Thursday, targeting multiple areas across the city, including Yewalewadi, Mundhwa, and Ghorpadi. This proactive operation resulted in the vacation of government land spanning over 53,000 square feet, as officials took decisive steps to remove illegal structures that had encroached upon public property.

During the operation, authorities successfully demolished structures that had been erected on government land without authorization. In Yewalewadi, a substantial 44,244.13 square feet of land was reclaimed, with the demolition focusing on three properties within the area. Similarly, in the Mundhwa and Ghorpadi regions, a total of 9,599 square feet of land was freed from illegal structures at multiple locations.

This recent anti-encroachment drive follows a similar initiative by the Pune Municipal Corporation on Fergusson College Road, where several well-known establishments, including Vaishali Hotel, faced demolition as part of the ongoing crackdown. Civic officials have been vocal in their call for citizens to voluntarily remove encroachments in various parts of the city, emphasizing the importance of adhering to property regulations and preserving public spaces.

The PMC’s efforts to reclaim public land and maintain urban aesthetics demonstrate a commitment to upholding the rule of law and ensuring that city resources are accessible and utilized in accordance with municipal regulations.
