Electricity Transformer Upgrade in Yavat: Power Supply Solutions for 4 Villages

The Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) is gearing up for a significant transformation in Yavat, as they plan to replace a 25 MVA power transformer with a robust 50 MVA transformer. This upgrade aims to meet the escalating electricity demand and ensure a consistent and reliable power supply for the region. However, the transition period may result in temporary power shortages for some areas, with contingency plans in place to minimize disruptions.

The installation work is scheduled to begin on Thursday, November 2, and conclude on Friday, November 13. During this period, Uruli Kanchan town and four villages under the Mulshi division of MSEDCL will receive alternate power supply to ensure uninterrupted electricity service. In cases where last-minute load management issues arise, circular load management of electricity may be implemented to address these concerns.

The current MSEDCL high-pressure substation in Yavat, located in Taluka Daund, houses a 25 MVA power transformer. However, to accommodate the rising electricity demand in the area and to provide a consistent and reliable power supply, a larger 50 MVA transformer will be installed in the substation. This installation of the new transformer is anticipated to take place from November 2 to 13.

The Yavat substation plays a vital role in providing electricity to several areas, including the original Koregaon 33/11 KV substation, 1,200 agricultural pumps in Peth, Mirwadi, Shindewadi, and Hingangaon, as well as serving 15,700 consumers in Uruli Kanchan city, Ashtapur, Hingangaon, Khamgaon Tek, and Tilekarwadi villages. However, due to the increased workload at the substation, there is expected to be a power shortage of approximately 3 MW.

To address this shortfall, MSEDCL has implemented technical plans for alternative power supply arrangements, ensuring uninterrupted power supply in all areas, including Uruli Kanchan town. In case of a sudden surge in electricity demand and technical issues, the power supply to 1,200 agricultural pumps in Uruli Kanchan City, Ashtapur, Hingangaon, Khamgaon Tek, and Tilekarwadi villages may be interrupted for a duration of three hours.
