Implementation of AI Technology
- PMC officials have revealed that the AI-driven application has been deployed on a pilot basis at a water tanker point in Padmavati. This system will provide instantaneous updates on various crucial metrics, including the entry and exit of water tankers, as well as the filling and distribution of water by each tanker throughout the city.
- Currently, the PMC dispatches approximately 1,400 drinking water tankers daily to cater to the needs of Pune residents, including those from newly merged villages. These tankers, supplied by private vendors at no cost to citizens, play a vital role in ensuring adequate water supply.
Addressing Monitoring Challenges
- Shrinivas Kandul, head of the PMC’s electric department, highlighted the existing monitoring challenges faced by the corporation. Despite the presence of eight PMC tankers designated for water filling at various locations across the city, there has been a lack of real-time data on water consumption and tanker movements.
- To address this issue, AI-based CCTV cameras have been installed at the Padmavati tanker point on a trial basis.
