PMC Gears Up for Sadhu Vaswani Railway Flyover: Rs 83 Crore Project to Ease Traffic in Pune

In a bid to tackle traffic congestion in the Koregaon Park area, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) is gearing up to initiate the construction of the Sadhu Vaswani Railway flyover. The flyover, connecting Koregaon Park to the Pune Cantonment Board area, is set to be a four-lane bridge with an estimated project cost of Rs 83 crore.

Before the actual construction kicks off, the municipal corporation has decided to divert the bridge that connects the two sections of the city. This preliminary step is expected to commence in the upcoming week, paving the way for the extensive bridge work.

The Sadhu Vaswani flyover on the railway route, which was closed for heavy traffic last year, has been a focal point for traffic congestion. The PMC’s ambitious project aims to alleviate this issue by constructing a modern, four-lane bridge. The civic body has allocated a budget of Rs 20 crore for the construction of the bridge, and the tender process has already been completed.

The proposed flyover holds several notable features, including a total project cost of Rs 83 crore and a dedicated budget allocation of Rs 20 crore for the current fiscal year. The bridge is planned to span a length of 640 meters, with a total width of 17.150 meters and a height of 6.90 meters.

Traffic authorities have requested the diversion of traffic to facilitate the bridge construction, and a decision on this matter is expected in the coming week. The Sadhu Vaswani Railway flyover is anticipated to significantly improve traffic flow in the vicinity of the new circuit house.
