PMC Commences Inspection Drive for 40% Property Tax Exemption in Pune

The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has initiated a rigorous inspection campaign aimed at enforcing the 40% exemption on property tax for self-use residential properties within its jurisdiction. This move comes as part of the corporation’s efforts to ensure adherence to tax regulations and promote transparency in the system. The pilot initiative, which kicked off today on May 6, 2024, focuses on specific neighborhoods including Vadgaon Dhayari, Vadgaon Budruk, and Hingane.

Led by the Deputy Commissioner of Taxation and Tax Collection, Madhav Jagtap, the initiative seeks to validate the eligibility of property owners for the tax exemption scheme. Stressing the significance of compliance with established guidelines, Jagtap remarked, “Today, a total of 1,100 properties underwent inspection as part of the ongoing drive.”

Key to the inspection process is the thorough verification of documents submitted by property holders during the PT-3 form submission, a pivotal determinant of eligibility for the tax exemption. The PMC is rigorously scrutinizing claims regarding the self-use residential status to maintain the integrity of the exemption scheme.

To ensure the smooth implementation of the initiative, a specialized team comprising five divisional inspectors and ten Peth inspectors has been mobilized for on-ground verification tasks. Operating under the leadership of administrative officer Ravindra Dhaware, the team is entrusted with conducting meticulous inspections and compiling detailed reports to uphold transparency and accountability throughout the process.
