Overview: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) recently launched a massive anti-encroachment drive to free the Pune-Solapur highway from unauthorized structures and obstructions. This concerted effort aimed to reclaim public space and ensure the smooth flow of traffic on this vital transportation route.

  • The operation spanned from Bhairobanala to Shewalwadi, covering a substantial stretch of the Pune-Solapur highway.
  • PMC mobilized around two hundred employees and officers to execute this operation effectively.
  • The action took place from early morning until evening, involving the dedicated efforts of four specialized teams.
  • Various structures, including sheds and signboards, which were encroaching upon the highway’s space, were systematically removed with the assistance of heavy machinery, including JCBs.
