Pune: Rashtriya Kala Akadami presents rangoli art based on cyber crime on immersion procession route

Pune: The Rashtriya Kala Akadami has presented thought-provoking rangoli art on the immersion procession. The academy has been raising awareness about various social issues during the procession every year for the past 25 years.

This year’s theme is cyber crime. Artists of the academy draw big, meaningful rangolis at 11 major crossroads from Mandai Chowk to Alka Talkies Chowk at the crossroads.

Devotees participating in the immersion procession are crowding to appreciate the art.

Rashtriya Kala Akadami Director Mandar Ranjekar said, “Our institution is entering its 25th year. We have been trying to raise awareness about social issues every year. Citizens have been responding very positively to this. We are thankful to them.”

Ranjekar said, “Almost everyone remains active on social media these days. Many people are cheated by cyber crooks. We are drawing rangolis to make netizens aware about cyber crime issues so that they can protect themselves against such elements in the cyber world. Our team is drawing big rangolis at the major 11 chowks on the immersion procession route.”

He added, “We train team members to draw rangolis for two months before the Ganpati Festival. As many as 350 artists are participating this year. We are using 1,250 kgs of rangoli, 750 colour shades and 700 kg of ‘gulal’ to draw the rangolis.”
