Constructed in 1893 by Shreemant Dagdusheth Halwai, a prosperous merchant and renowned wrestler, the temple stands as a symbol of gratitude to Lord Ganesha. As per The Indian Express report, Dagdusheth Halwai’s act of building the temple was an expression of thankfulness to Lord Ganesha for providing solace during a challenging period when he lost his son to an epidemic. Since its inception, the temple has emerged as one of Pune’s most significant religious landmarks and has welcomed numerous esteemed personalities over the years.

The temple’s architectural magnificence showcases exquisite Marathi designs, featuring intricately carved sculptures of Hindu deities adorning the main entrance.
