PM Modi’s Pune Visit: Metro Rail Inauguration, Waste-to-Energy Plant, and PMAY Houses – Live Updates

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Pune on August 1 has garnered significant attention, with various key events and inaugurations on the agenda. The visit aims to mark the inauguration of two sections of the Metro Rail, the waste-to-energy plant under the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC), and the distribution of 1,280 houses constructed under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY). As the Prime Minister arrived at Pune airport, he was received by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Ministers Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar. Here are the latest updates on his visit:

Metro Rail Inauguration and Pooja at Dagdusheth Ganpati Mandir: At 11 am, Prime Minister Modi arrived in Pune and will proceed to perform pooja at the revered Dagdusheth Ganpati Mandir at 11.45 am. Along with the religious ceremony, he will inaugurate two sections of the Metro Rail, a crucial step towards enhancing public transportation in the city.

Waste-to-Energy Plant Inauguration: During his visit, PM Modi will also inaugurate the waste-to-energy plant managed by the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC). This sustainable initiative aims to convert waste into energy, contributing to environmental conservation and waste management.

PMAY Housing Distribution: As part of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY), the Prime Minister will hand over the keys to 1,280 houses constructed to provide affordable housing to the underprivileged. This initiative reflects the government’s commitment to improving the living conditions of those in need.

Impact on Schools and Colleges: Due to PM Modi’s visit, some schools and colleges located in the Peth areas have decided to remain shut on the designated day. Others have opted for online classes to anticipate potential traffic congestion, road closures, and heightened security measures. While school administrations await clear instructions from the district administration regarding holidays, students and parents have been advised not to visit the campus for safety reasons.

Enhanced Security Measures: To ensure a smooth and secure visit, a robust security detail comprising over 5,000 personnel and officers, including Maharashtra’s elite Force One anti-terror commandos, has been deployed. The Pune city police have issued prohibitory orders from July 30 to August 2, with a ban on the use of drones for video shooting. Additionally, several arterial roads and traffic junctions in the city will be temporarily closed to facilitate the Prime Minister’s visit.
