Pimpri: Three-year-old child drowns in ditch filled with rainwater

Pimpri: A three-year-old child, who was playing near his house, died after drowning in a ditch filled with rainwater. His mother tried to rescue him by rushing him to a nearby hospital. However, the doctors declared him dead on arrival.

The incident took place at the Chakrapani Vasahat in Bhosari on Monday afternoon.

The deceased has been identified as Ganesh Balaji Manjalwar. According to Sr PI Nitin Fatangare, the Manjalwars stay in the colony in Bhosari. There are several ditches in the vicinity of their house, which are filled with rainwater. The child was playing near a ditch, along with other children, when he lost his balance and fell in a ditch.

Other children immediately alerted his mother, who brought him out of the ditch. He was rushed to the YMC Hospital in Pimpri. However, the doctors declared him dead on arrival. The police have registered an accidental death case in this connection. PSI Suhas Gade is investigating the case.
