Pedestrian Tragically Killed in Pune: PMPML Bus Driver Booked, Investigation Ongoing

In a harrowing incident that occurred on September 16th in Pune, another unfortunate accident involving a Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) bus has claimed the life of a 52-year-old pedestrian. The fatal incident unfolded on the Pune-Ahmednagar Highway, near Agha Khan Palace, within the dedicated Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) lane.

According to law enforcement authorities, the identity of the deceased pedestrian has yet to be officially confirmed. It was reported that the victim was attempting to cross the road when a PMPML bus, traveling at high speed within the BRT lane, struck him. The collision resulted in severe injuries, prompting immediate transportation to a nearby hospital for medical attention. Regrettably, the medical team at the hospital declared the pedestrian deceased.

Subsequently, a case has been registered against the PMPML bus driver at the Yerawada Police Station. The charges filed include sections 279 and 304 (a) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), in conjunction with sections 184 and 119/177 of the Motor Vehicle Act. As the investigation unfolds, authorities are diligently pursuing the matter.
