Passport Verification Protocols: Pune Police Sets New Standards in Security Measures

In a startling revelation, Pune Police have exposed a case involving Bangladeshi infiltrators obtaining 10 passports through the use of fraudulent documents. The arrests, part of a wider crackdown on illegal residents, were made across various police stations, including Hadapsar, Wanawadi, Bharati Vidhyapeeth, and Faraaskhana.

A comprehensive investigation by the police uncovered the alarming fact that the infiltrators had successfully acquired 10 passports based on forged documents, shedding light on potential vulnerabilities in the passport issuance process.

Police Commissioner Retesh Kumaarr has taken the matter seriously, urging swift action against those implicated in the illegal procurement of passports. Assistant Commissioner of Police Ramakant Mane and Senior Police Inspector DS Hake from Pune Police’s Passport Verification Department have issued specific instructions to intensify efforts against foreign nationals residing illegally.

The investigation has brought to light the existence of organized gangs facilitating the illicit procurement of Indian passports for foreign nationals. In response, stringent measures have been implemented, emphasizing the importance of thorough personal investigations during the passport application process. Applicants are now subjected to in-person visits at their residences for verification.

The Police Commissioner has directed a comprehensive inquiry into the residents of the area concerning the applicants’ residences, introducing an additional layer of scrutiny. The verification process now includes meticulous examinations of Aadhaar cards, birth certificates, and other essential documents to ensure the authenticity of the information provided.
