Parking Woes: Wakad Residents Demand Immediate Action Against Vehicles Blocking Footpaths

In Wakad, residents of various societies, including Echoing Greens, are facing ongoing challenges due to vehicles consistently parking on nearby footpaths. The situation has escalated, prompting residents to seek immediate action to alleviate the inconvenience caused by obstructed walkways.

Ayan Ganguly, a resident of Echoing Greens, shared his frustration, stating, “I requested him to park his vehicle at a parking space and not block the footpath. When I began to record the video, he started gathering other people who presumably parked their vehicles on the footpath. They said that this footpath belongs to them. As this footpath is opposite to their businesses, it is not public property. They own it.”

Siddharth Talokar, another resident, echoed the sentiment, highlighting the persistent inconvenience caused by vehicles parked on footpaths. He mentioned the challenges residents face in entering their society due to blocked pathways.

Mohanish Umare, Chairman of Echoing Greens, expressed the prolonged nature of the problem, stating, “The businesses located in front of our society at least listen to us. However, there is a business run just nearby which has completely occupied the footpath. For the entire day, their vehicles are parked on the footpath.”

In response to the residents’ concerns, Navnath Khedkar, Pimpri Chinchwad Traffic Police Official, Wakad Division, assured action, saying, “We will send our patrolling team to inspect and take relevant action.”
