Over 20,000 Passengers Apprehended for Travelling Ticketless in Pune Division during July

Pune, August 2nd, 2023: In a significant crackdown on ticketless travel, railway officials in the Pune division have apprehended a staggering number of 20,199 passengers during the month of July. The officials collected a total fine amounting to Rs 1 Crore 53 Lakh from these passengers, indicating the severity of the issue.

In addition to the ticketless travelers, authorities also caught 8,435 passengers engaged in irregular travel practices during the same period. A fine of Rs 48.88 lakh was recovered from these individuals, sending a clear message that violations of railway regulations will not be taken lightly.

Furthermore, railway officials identified and penalized 150 passengers who were found traveling with luggage without proper payment. A fine of Rs 15,000 was imposed on them for this violation.

Ticketless travel and other irregular practices not only lead to revenue loss for the railway authorities but also disrupt the smooth functioning of the transportation system. The fines collected from these offenders play a crucial role in deterring such behavior and ensuring a fair and equitable ticketing system for all passengers.
