Of Skies & Friends’: Jayant Bhimsen Joshi’s Solo Art Exhibition Graces Pune’s Vesavar Art Gallery

Pune’s art enthusiasts are in for a treat as Vesavar Art Gallery presents the solo art exhibition “Of Skies & Friends” by the esteemed artist Jayant Bhimsen Joshi. Running from February 4 to March 17, this showcase of abstract paintings delves into the intersection of emotions, colors, and forms, creating a visual symphony inspired by the celebrated musician, Bharat Ratna Pandit Bhimsen Joshi.

Jayant Joshi, known for his mastery in abstract paintings, unveils his commitment to the craft through this exhibition. The showcased acrylic paintings on canvas depict the vast canvas of the sky, capturing the essence of his father’s birth ceremony. In his artistic journey, Joshi embraces chaos and order, allowing the canvas to breathe and communicate in its own language.

The exhibition, inaugurated by Dr. Atul Goel, Director of Goel Ganga Group, and his wife Amrita Atul Goel, Director of Maati, features a collection of seven acrylic paintings showcasing the sky as the deity of the naive, poker player, statesman, and fluid individuals who have shaped consciousness. Additionally, the display includes 20 mixed-media paintings on canvas, each portraying faces in a unique light.

According to Joshi, the sky and familiar faces play a vital role in our worldly, practical, and spiritual existence. He emphasizes, “Only ignorance is stored in the mind. The sky unfolds many contexts, sometimes an abomination of spiritual support. The perceived illusion is then painted on the canvases.”

Jayant Joshi’s artistic journey is deeply influenced by his parents, the renowned classical musician Pandit Bhimsen Joshi and his mother Vatsala Bhimsen Joshi. Having traveled extensively around the world, Joshi captures the abstractions in visual arts and music, contemplating the scale, depth, and grandeur of nature.

Art enthusiasts and the curious alike are invited to Vesavar Art Gallery to experience this captivating exhibition that transcends traditional boundaries and explores the profound connections between art, emotion, and the celestial.
